Dartmouth is absolutely the greatest college in the entire universe. I transferred here from UCLA (don't ever go there!) and am SO glad I did. Coming to Dartmouth is the best decision I've ever made. I think the most amazing thing about Dartmouth is its dedication to fostering passion in its students. It does this through the plethora of opportunities- studying abroad, research, publications, clubs, etc. Everyone here is brilliant, talented, and yet very normal. The students who are winning accolades in academia can be found here skiing on Dartmouth Skiway after class and building snowmen in the winter, swimming in the river in the summer, lounging on the green and chatting with friends in the fall and spring, and being social and fun. A typical day might consist of classes, dinner with friends at Food Court, going to see an a cappella show at one of the greek houses, then hanging out with friends in the dorm or at a party. We study hard too, and Dartmouth is certainly challenging. We are on the quarter system, so you take three classes, three times a year. When not on campus, we can be found doing internships with companies that recruit heavily on campus, from I-banks like Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan to real estate firms to design houses like Prada to anything under the sun really, to doing amazing volunteer activities such as teaching English to children in Ghana or building houses in Juarez.I love being on campus. Dartmouth is very much a community. They take care of you here, and really pamper you too! During the first week of school, all freshman get a free lobster dinner, while a string quartet plays live in the background, of course. We are very pampered here! Our alumni also take care of us. Alumni of one of the singing groups, for example, just rented a villa in Tuscany for current student members and flew them to Italy for spring break. We are somewhat rural here in New Hampshire, but it helps solidify the sense of community within the school- students dont go home on weekends or hang out in a city. Of course, the college provides busses to Montreal, Maine, Boston, Burlington, and other fun places on certain weekends. With Dartmouth's reputation, many famous and interesting people, acts and groups come to campus. We get well-known speakers and musical acts each term. I feel so fortunate to have had as great a college experience as I have had at Dartmouth. Dartmouth alumni are crazy! They come back every year for Homecoming, come out for athletic games held in their cities, help students get internships through the Alumni Career Network, and have donation rates among the highest in the country. There is a place for everyone here, and it will become part of your character: there is a reason why are alumni are so involved and passionate- this place instills something in you that will stay with you forever.
