First, I'm not religious, I believe in God and that Jesus saved us but that is about it, and to me that is all that is important. This school is 98% filled with religious minded people who are either Lutheran or Christian. The other 2% are.. Well?. lets not talk about them?.
I came to this school because I wanted to be in a nurtured community filled with loving people. You figure all Christians are like that?. Boy was I wrong! I didn't get that at my public high school and I?m not really getting that here?
First I?ll start with the pros:
-the weather
-the spacious dorms
-accommodations
-friendly professors
-beautiful landscape
- not a lot of homework
-easy work
-the track
-french hill
Cons:
-no parking
-can't have a car if you're a freshman
-dorms are bug infested bad!!!
-noisy if you live in rho
-no parties on campus
-stores are far away
- nothing to do on the weekends if you don't have a car
- people are unfriendly and only hang out with their roommates or suitemates or teammates
- there are barely any clubs or activities to do
-people are exclusive with who they invite to their parties
-immature high school minded people
-cliqueness in cafeteria (yes you either sit with your "group" or forced to sit by yourself)
-no pool
-people have drinking problems
-core classes suck and are not transferable!
-textbooks are useless and expensive
-maclab computers are outdated and don't run very well with the new CS6 photoshop
-high tuition, poor education
- class sizes are bigger than what they tell you (I had to leave because there weren't anymore seats in a class of 50)
-bullying and name calling as well as sexual abuse (don't even get me started on this)
-ugly guys, who are man whores and have sex with anything, yet don't see themselves as players.
-slutty unattractive ?athletic girls?
-athletics are too hard to join, as the people on the teams aren't very friendly
-everyone is on drugs of some sort or come from fucked up lives and environments
-chapel isn't required but the Christian religion is heavily found in the classes and curriculum
-people say they are Christian yet go out and drink do drugs have sex and are cold and cruel
-lack of creativity and freedom of expression
-library is outdated
-roomate and suitmates aren't matched properly
-cafeteria food will occasionally make you sick =(
-too many commuters and no parking
-a lot of transfers are 21-25 yrs. old
Overall, Concordia isn't a terrible university like many other small private religious universities are. It just doesn't feel like college. If you are religious and have grown up in that environment then you will be fine! This school just isn't the right fit for me. Unfortunately I can't transfer because the schools I want to go to wont accept the core classes as credit. So I?m stuck here for a while, friendless and seen as a freak because of the way of life I live. Guess that's how Jesus felt?. Hopefully my time here will get better and I will find better friends. One thing i learned here is to be open minded and stay positive thats why im making this review neutral
