First and foremost, try your hardest NOT TO LIVE ON CAMPUS. One, room and board costs more than the tuition itself.

Two, the food and dorms are not even close to worth what you pay for.
The food is mediocore and cheap. One night I went to one of the dining halls, and all they had was cereal.

The dorm life is a joke. Everyone is still treated like children who are supervised by RAs. A good portion of the fees that you are required to pay go to fund the RAs programs that nobody goes to, unless its just for the food.

I'm not saying the programs are a bad idea, they're just marketed to the wrong group of people. In essence, most of that money goes to waste, or just pays for additional food.

Furthermore, a good portion of the RAs don't do they're job very well. As I write this, I am down in the computer lab, because my dorm and entire floor reeks of pot. After telling the RAs, they didn't do anything.

Also, a large portion of the time, you can hear people talking and yelling non-stop due to thin walls, etc

IN THE END, DO NOT LIVE ON CAMPUS. This was the biggest waste of money yet
I cannot speak for other departments on campus, but I can say the Math department is full of a wonderful, caring set of people. The Computer Science department could use some work, some of the professors appear to be mean and unhelpful.

The campus is pretty ugly, say compared to my old school, the University of Maine. It is sort of just stuck and surrounded by a couple of busy New Britain roads. The architecture is modern and cold.

I hope in writing this I have sparred several students the ridiculousness of living on campus.

1st Year Male -- Class 2018

Scholastic Success: A+, Campus Aesthetics: D-

Well I have only been here at CCSU a little while but I know I have helpful feedback :-). First, I'm not the kind of girl to really get involved in school activities but that doesnt mean I just sit home and do nothing. CCSU is perfectly located. Hartford is only 20 mins away with tons of bars and clubs so you can always go out if you want. Also, there are a lot of students who live walking distance from campus (I have an apartment 5 min walking distance from my class) so just because the dorms may be empty, doesnt mean you cant walk to a house to drink. As for academics, I LOVE my accounting teacher because he really wants you learn usefull information that you will use in the real world. The same goes for my other professors except for my pre-calc one who cant speak english... But anyways, I like the teachers here at CCSU. Here is my greatest snippet of advice, DONT BE AN UNDECLARED FRESHMAN AT CCSU. If you do, you will prob get an advisor that doesnt really care. Im not sure if I really want to stay with my major (construction management) but I got an awesome advisor who promised to not give me weekend classes for my first semester. My advisor was really helpful and gave great advice. As for the students, I think a lot of them are friendly. 5 students came up to me and introduced themselves the first week which was really nice. Overall, college is what you make of it. I Like my space so living off campus works for me and my classes have 27 students at most which is a good size for me also. Hope my thoughts on CCSU helps!!

Campus Maintenance: A+, Social Life: C

I am a junior at CCSU and let me tell you the worst mistake I have ever made is coming to this school. Their slogan is "Come with a dream, live with a future". Although it should be Come with a dream, leave with a record. If you want to have fun at college and do things every other college student does DO NOT COME TO CENTRAL. There is no social life because the police and school will try and put a stop immediately to any fun you and friends are trying to have. You WILL end up in new britain court seeing that same judge that see's murder and rape cases. Again if you want to have the full college experience please, please take my advice and save yourself the trouble. Im writing this so others dont have to go through what myself and a countless number of other students are going through. Do NOT come to Central Connecticut State University.
