Positive Negative Neutral Advice
Elon is not a terrible school, as in,Quite Bright
Elon is not a terrible school, as in, there are worse places. However, it has been a big disappointment for me.

My older sister came here a few years ago, and I used to visit and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, Elon has taken a turn for the worse since I decided to attend. I am transferring out for the following primary reasons:

-The school raises tuition every year and it has become unaffordable for me. The financial aid is terrible, and most students, such as myself, get none or very little. It is difficult to predict the amount you will receive in advance of enrolling. The meal plan is expensive and a rip off, and the school finds ways to charge us for everything. They leave us with no places to park, and tow us when we park elsewhere for a fee of over a hundred dollars each time. This is wrong.

-The administration has come to only care about construction and changing the school into an Alamance Co. version of Duke or UNC-Chapel Hill. The students get thrown under the bus and ignored most of the time. They spend huge amounts of our money on things that we don't need or want, such as a tunnel under the railroad tracks that nobody is going to use anyway, or giant fountains that sink into the ground because of improper planning and eat up more of our money to fix.

-The students are very white, upper-class, and stuck up. People here are jsut not friendly, and once they find their little group of friends, they never branch out or are willing to meet anyone new. I am an extremely outgoing person and I have my group of friends, but I really hate this dynamic. College is supposed to be about meeting new people and experiencing new things, and few people here are open to any of that. I feel like intellectual growth is stymied by Elon.

Elon may be better in ten or twenty years, but right now it really just sucks. I am upset that I wasted two years of my college experience here, and am transferring out. There are some people here who do love it, but honestly, I have noticed that a very large number of students in my year have expressed a desire to transfer. For some reason, this school is just falling apart, and people want out.

Really think hard before coming here, because it will probably be an utter disappointment for you.
