When in reality, it's full of snobs and arrogance, especially in the admissions office. I will never recommend anyone fresh out of High School to attend this type of school. I had a very bad experience with the administrative part of the school and if they look bad the rest of the school is bad as well. The administration office is supposed to represent their college where they supposedly lend out support not put you in a position where you have no choice. Encouraging people to go to a school they do not benefit from to finish their degree and not be able to attend Lehman as a Freshman to start over, is a big NO...No. Lehman lacks understanding of humans and they function as robots with no feelings and no care in the world how they treat others. I feel that this college needs a makeover....a new administrative staff to answer people's questions, not some know it all who's only arrogance would be enough reason not to attend this stupid, low rated school. I feel also, that with a school in the Bronx area, they should step down their high horse and treat everyone with respect no matter if their GPA is below a 2.0. They don't even give anyone a chance to succeed. They put you down no matter what. They are hungry for money and they have no real ethics on how to run a college much less a not so great one!!!! Eventhough many say that lehman college feels like high school which i agree to some point and students are like childish yah that's true. I have heard that you learn nothing in lehman utter wrong.. yes this is college and you have to learn it. if u study well that's what u get. the professors are extremely helpful but the problem is the campus feels like high school.i would suggest that if you don't have enough money or come from a poor family this college is for you. tuition is cheap.Yes a lot of learning like any other college.i have to spend so many hours to get gud grades on my subject.. why waste 40,000 bucks giving to private schools and pay loans through out life. i don't care but wht matters is the education. professors extremely helpful.if u r not satisfied with lehman, then save money during undergrad and look out 4 a better school 4 ur graduate studies. But any wayi loved Lehman college and am thankful to all the professors who taught me.. most of the professors have phds and has extreme knowledge in their respective areas. In lehman, there is not much extracurricular activities except soccer or swimming..For getting in to nursing program, it is extremely hard and the hardest one in new york.However, i 'm transferring out of lehman bcuz it is hard to get into lehman nursing program. other majors it is easy. If you're looking for the "college experience" or to broaden your horizons as a person, this college ain't for you. It's a good mix of adult-learners and high schools students. Classes are very cut-and-dry and to-the-point. Do your work, do well on your tests, go home. The teachers are very bland and most of them teach straight out of a textbook. Classroom debates or deep discussions rarely occurred. The campus is quite pretty for The Bronx. Lots of trees, grass, and wild birds that fly in once in a while. The facilities(library, computer room, gym, cafeteria, etc.) are not state-of-the-art but they're good enough to get work done in, no complaints here. Tuition is also very cheap. The only out-of-pockets costs I had were transportation, food, and books. After 2 years of going to this school, it dawned on me that this school isn't going to help me get anywhere. The teachers have no connections/networks and the school does very little in providing opportunities for quality internships. I eventually ended up joining the military(Air Force) and haven't looked back since. All in all, if you find yourself in this school, use it as a stepping stone to get an easy 4.0 GPA and transfer somewhere better. If you enjoy mediocrity, this school is for you. This is where you should end up only if you can't afford to (or didn't have the grades) to get into a better college. While this is an accredited, four-year college, it is largely unknown outside of the city of New York (a sometimes deciding factor for employers as name recognition helps). Bright and talented students will feel out of place surrounded by mostly C-avg. High School graduates. I personally was in an English class where one of my classmates could not formulate whole sentences. During my time here, I did not participate in extracurricular activities because I saw no point in it, the college didn't emphasize it, or both. Administration is very catty but they won't give you a hard time, however it is obvious that these people don't necessarily like their jobs. The campus itself is small and there isn't much to see. The surrounding neighborhood is no better. The college only offers housing to international students if I remember correctly. I can comfortably say that at least 80% of the student body is comprised of in-state students and at the end of each day, everyone goes home(just like high school, remember?). To those unfortunate enough to end up here (like this undergrad), do what I did and maintain a high GPA then transfer to a better university. Those looking for the true college experience, look elsewhere. Those who don't really care about a quality education and just want to go somewhere cheap and close to home, this is the school for you.
