Positive Negative Neutral Advice
I go to the Film School.Quite Bright
I go to the Film School. The department is fantastic. The professors are fantastic. I went in knowing jack shit, and came out already having held decent, rent-paying jobs with Emmy Award Winning professionals. Lamar Sanders, Ezra Sacks, Chris Kelly, Jim Brown, Gay Abel Bey, and Paul Thompson (all tenured professors/chairmen) are some of the most incredible and inspiring people I've ever met.

That said, I WORKED it. You can sit on your ass through this thing, get A's and graduate unemployed real easy.

Most kids plan on doing that. Why? Because the department is half composed of rich kids who's parents donated to the school. They don't need to work. Although some of them do, and are very talented, most of them don't. It's frustrating for a Broke Ass girl like me.

As for the University, outside my department? Fuck them. I mean, thanks for the scholarship, guys, but really-- my EFC says 0$, and you're asking me to bay 9,000$ a year.

It's impossible to get anyone on the phone about billing, registration, outside scheduling, health, etc. Fortress-like security (they will hold you back from taking an exam if you forget your ID, even if they see you everyday, and wave at you in the street.)Most disappointingly, my classes through CAS were all taught by grad students, most of whom had no idea what they were doing. SENIOR LEVEL CLASSES, even! The best part? They don't tell you that an unqualified individual is teaching the class until you're already stuck there. Ick.

Question
What I'm about to say I have readNot so bright
What I'm about to say I have read on this and many other sites long before I got here, but I was stupid and did not listen. NYU was my dream school since I was 12, but it is obvious to me now that I fell in love with a fantasy, not the depressing reality that haunts the halls of this shallow overpriced school. I have only been here for THREE days and am already transferring to a community college until I can transfer to Rutgers for the Spring Session. I HATE IT THAT MUCH. Take it from someone who was OBSESSED with this school, if you are a good looking, social, overall pretty NORMAL female PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE. Everyone here is fucking wierd, you will not even WANT to be friends with the wierdos you encounter here. and Dating? FORGET ABOUT IT. All the guys are GAY, unattractive, socially awkward. There is NO community. NO parties. I don't care what anyone on here says. If you want to have fun you have to first, SEARCH endlessly for it online, and then attempt to go to some random bar/club. Then, pay 20 bucks just to sit around and not drink, because the clubs and stuff are getting pretty strict around here. The security is SO strict, you can't even come back to the dorms trashed, if you can even find anywhere to get trashed .And dorm parties aren't worth it they get broken up within minutes. And you get into serious trouble for alcohol here. I came into this knowing it wasn't a typical college experience, but i still thought I would have a social life and be HAPPY. This place just makes you MISERABLE. Everything about it makes you want to cry in a corner all day. The city is lonely, millions of people and you will feel more alone than you ever have in your life. The feelings nyu breeds are of the rarest form, you'll never be more depressed than when you attend this school. and unless you go to Tish, ITS NOT WORTH THE MONEY. It's no ivy league, and you will be miserable for 50 thou a year. Have fun paying off that debt in this economy. FRESHMAN; GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN. My classes didn't start so I get a full refund. I don't care if I'm a bum for the rest of my life, ANYTHING is better than this fucking depression.

Question
The work here is challenging.Average
The work here is challenging. That is rather enjoy that aspect of it, but the student body leaves much to be desired. There is not much commodore, but usually just people trying to impress each other with new music that they found and no one else can listen to. The most frustrating feature that... at least my roommates and I have noticed, is that so many of the girls here are just looking for men to have sex with them. I have had so many women here tell me about their boyfriends that they are cheating on while I kiss them, which just completely ruins it for me. I do not want to ruin a relationship, but there are just so many slutty girls looking for someone to fill them for the night. I thought there were supposed to be more more intellectuals here, but mostly just horny hipsters that want to be above other people. I do not know if that interests you or not, but that is just an observation.
