This school is staffed entirely of condescending pieces of shit. They do not give a fuck about the students and only care about getting your money.

Academically:
I've had a grea time here. I love learning, and I am learning a ton here. Every semester I can't wait to get started on my next classes. There are huge benefits from getting a degree here.

Socially:
Like other people have said, the social life is what you make of it. DO NOT LISTEN TO PEOPLE SAYING THERE IS NO SOCIAL SCENE. These individuals clearly wanted it to be handed to them, and nothing at RPI is handed to you. There are parties every friday and saturday, and some week nights too if the weekend just isn't enough haha. If you don't come here because you are afriad you won't get to party, you are really mis-informed. This place is all about time management, work hard during the week and you can throw down on the weekends (usually).

Piece of Advice:
Guys, you have to get involved with Greek Life if you want a social life. Period. And while its great for parties, the real value is in the friendships you are going to make. Having 70+ guys who will have my back no matter what is one of the coolest things I've ever experienced. I was super opposed to going greek freshman year so I didn't join until sophomore year. HUGE MISTAKE. Do yourself a favor and go to rush events without any preconcieved notions about what fraternities are like. You will be suprised by most of them. Some houses may be like the garbage you see in the movies, but thats a small percentage.

I'm not saying you have to join one officially, but make some friends during rush so if nothing else you can at least get into parties and meet people. If you take this route, I'd bet you end up joining later on at some point anyways.

Girls, you don't really need to join a sorority for a great social life. The fact that you are a girl will give you access to most parties. Being in a sorority will give you more direct contact with fraternities through mixers and such, but those are so-so. In my opinion, sororities are a bit more social club-y, but being a dude I'm not all that experience with being in one.Come here with these things in mind and you'll have a good time.
