Unless you buy in completely to what BJUJournalism
Unless you buy in completely to what BJU has to offer, you are going to be miserable at this school. If you don't agree with EVERYTHING that the schools says, you are out of God's will. As a student, I loved the place. Later, as an adult who returned as an employee, I learned the true side of the school's nature. I was not impressed.

Question
My parents both attended the universtiy and IReligion/Religious
My parents both attended the universtiy and I was always expected to enroll there after high school. I was young and imature, without much motivation, so I went to BJU. I appreciate some of the character building traits I received from the university. I also appreciate the introduction of culture (classical music and theatre) that broadened my narrow outlook as a teenager. However, I have been working for over 25 years to rid myself of many of the negagives I picked up from the school. The leagalistic lifestyle, the religious elitism, the lack of opportunity to make your own decisions, and the over all suspicion anyone who does not agree with me are but a few of the pieces of baggage I have successfully rid myself of from since I graduated.

I must admit tht academics were not much of an issue for me because of my immaturity and youth. I changed my major several times and graduated a semester late. However, I have done very well in my post graduate experiences - to which I give equal credit to just growing up and to the foundational academic skills and work ethic I received from the university.

Since graduation I earned another undergraduate degree from an accredited school, as well as a masters from a state institution. I have done well in my profession and have advanced at an appropriate rate. I married a beautiful lady (with strong Christian beliefs) from another denomination. I belong to an effective, evangelical church from a denomination that the school would not agree with. My children will not be encouraged to attend the school, but will not be banned by me if they choose to go. I highly doubt they will do that. To make a long story short, I have escaped many of the legalistic bonds the school placed upon me. I enjoy my life and believe God is using me daily to further his will. I'm not worried about whether I attend a movie, have a glass of wine, dance with my wife, or even miss church once in awhile. I am continuing in my daily walk with the Lord and enjoy being with those who may not agree with everything I believe. This has challenged me to strengthen my own beliefs. I have never felt more free in my faith and look forward to the future. While this "world is not my home" I am enjoying facing its challenges and appreciating the God inspired beauty and human culture of our temporary home.I do not openly bash BJU because I recognize some of the good things I received while there. Please check out the school before attending. While I believe it may be a good place for some, it can be very negative for others.

Question
If I had it to do all overQuite BrightOther
If I had it to do all over again, I'd have never set foot on the campus. There is this mentality that if you do not go to a Christian University, you are not a Christian. If you try to leave, they suggest counseling to "redeem your backslidden self." You can successfully go to a state or liberal arts school and get a more broadened education with no close-mindedness. Thinking is ENCOURAGED. Amazing, huh? After 2 years at BJ, I am stretching my legs and realizing the necessity of being informed, which I was not while I was there. Democrats are condemned..."evil liberals." Ok, so democrats cannot be Christians. Got it. Although I highly doubt God thinks in terms of "conservative" or "liberal" but moving along... I must admit that I never saw the racism on campus. All three black students were treated nicely and welcomed into open arms. And there are also many oriental students who are welcome too - although they are NOT allowed to speak in their native language in the dormitories (because...well...they might be criticizing a rule or something sinful like that). Education-wise, as I must admit I occasionally ran into an actual qualified professor, but other than that - most faculty was trained at BJ (can you see the vicious circle here?). Other Christian institutions AND state schools can provide you with better preparation to succeed in the future workplace and home life. If you are actually considering BJU, all I can suggest is to get a copy of the current handbook, read over the pages, (and laugh your head off) before you make a concrete decision.
