CNU is everyone's backup school.BrightSociology
CNU is everyone's backup school. I went there because I wasn't really thinking about college. The people are conserative and close-minded. The academics are great, I love the small classes.

However, there's no campus life what so ever. Everyone leaves on the weekends. Since it's a dry campus students are forced to drink off campus (which is unsafe because it results in drunk driving). Parties are usually "invite-only" by the snobby fraternities/sororities or sports teams. I guess it's a good school if you're conserative and play a sport or want to join one of the few Greek organizations.

Also, there's very few majors. DO NOT go here if you're undecided about your major. Chances are, CNU won't have it or will drop it.I'm hoping to transfer.

Question
CNU has really flourished in the past 10Quite BrightLanguage - French/Spanish/etc.
CNU has really flourished in the past 10 years under the visional leadership of Senator Paul Trible. He has really come in with a vision and captured all of our attention to that vision. With magnificent additions such as the new dorms, CNU Village, a new Student Union, expanded library, and of course, the gem of everything is the CNU Ferguson Center for the Arts. So many great concerts have been here and have been readily and cheaply available to students to experience. Bocelli, BB King, The Temptations - the list goes on. I walk back stage and see all of the signed posters from visiting artists and I'm just blown away at the line up.

More importantly, though, is the academic side of CNU. The professors are bright, smart, and open-minded professors. They are always shoving left-sided propoganda down your throat and your opinion actually matters. Classes are fun, interactive. I'm even on a first name basis with several of my professors because I consider them friends in addition to their mentorship.

Don't come here if you like lots of sports and crazy fans. Although we have all the major sports and they do a fairly good job in their divisions, events are low attended (except football), and sports doesn't have the presence that other schools have (but that's a small school for ya).I would recommned CNU to anyone who loves a small, sociable community of students and professors. When it's nice, we have class outside. My Monday afternoon consists of "Kaffeestunde," or coffee hour in the cafe where professors and students who speak german come together and chat. I love it here and I'd rather be at no other school. CNU is for you.

Question
If you are a prospective student, I wouldBrightAccounting
If you are a prospective student, I would be very cautious about attending CNU. CNU is almost a real life infomercial the way they market its school, and contrary to other schools that are actually good and can let its reputation speak for itself, CNU raves about amazing things at the school when its just not true. Its no surprise that huge amount of students transfer out of CNU each year, its because CNU is nothing like its advertised.

CNU students are basically apathetic and have no school spirit. This is because most students go here because it is their safety school and they didnt get in anywhere else. This is also evident on the weekends when tons of people pack up and leave. CNU is pretty boring on weekends so people go home or to other colleges where you can actually have fun.

CNU is a dry campus, and their university police (read: Rent-a-cop police) are on powertrips, and love to get students busted. CNU makes second year students live ON CAMPUS, which is stupid, especially because my friends at other schools can live off campus. This is probably because CNU loves to bust people, and their dry campus rules apply to sophomores who must live on campus.

Its pretty simple, CNU is an average school. Its not nearly as good as the major universities in Virginia, and it would not be wise to choose CNU over better schools in Virginia. CNU has no reputation academically, and there isnt much going on socially. I made a mistake by going here one year too much, and I am transferring as a junior to JMU next year, which isnt very uncommon as I bet a lot of students are filling out transfer forms right now.
