William & Mary offered great academics, but was stuck in the 50's as far as campus life. Everything revolved around the Greeks and drinking. However, the sense of history, the closeness of the campus, the beauty of the region and the proximity to other activities was a huge draw. I have fond memories of my time there, although whenever I venture back for Homecoming I'm still amazed by the total gentility and "yuppiness" of my fellow graduates.

Almost everyone here is depressed, there is little to do off campus, and the work load is obscene. Most students spend their time studying. For someone like me who is laid back and not driven by grades it was a tough adjustment. Also, A's are very hard to come by, there is NO grade inflation. Even so the education is a good value, especially for VA residents. Don't go here if you want your college experience to be enjoyable. Go here if you want to be prepared for grad school or a career.
