Major: English (This Major's Salary over time)
While UMass Boston is not the "most unfriendly universityin the city of Boston" (B.U. and B.C. are tied for that title) it still is a fairly hostile place if you're noticably different in an anti-establishment kind of way: hippie, punk, goth, gay/queer/lesbian/transgendered, etc. The level of homophobia and sexism is so prevalent on this campus, that ignorant slurs and casual remarks fly even in upper-level English courses. The women here can be just as obnoxious as the men. If you are seeking a Boston-area, commuter college/university with a more liberal and open-minded atmosphere, apply to Suffolk. This place is a bureaucratic maze in the ninth circle of hell. Plus, it's so goddamn ugly.
