Academically, FIU is pretty good. The faculty, facilities and surrounding city are all top-notch, and given the super-low costs of attendance, it's a great deal for your money. The only drawback is that the student population is not very college-like, what I mean is that almost everyone commutes, there is not many people living on campus, almost no Greek life, and though people are approachable, due to the size of the school and the lack of community spirit, the college experience here can be VERY lonely (in other words, only the strong-willed, anti-social or snooty need apply).
