I attended Ohio Wesleyan all four years and have to say that it was a wonderful experience. I visited several other schools and literally read about hundreds before selecting Ohio Wesleyan. As a National Merit Scholar I had my choice of virtually anywhere I wanted to go, but OWU met the criteria I set. I wanted a small college where I would get to know my fellow students and my professors, but I also wanted a school that would have access to a large metropolitan area with all the conveniences that implied.

Wesleyan's liberal reputation appealed to me (And it was a reputation the school lived up to.)and I appreciated the attention the school paid to building a diverse student body. What I loved most about OWU was that I didn't just read about different viewpoints and experiences; I talked to people whose lives were radically different from mine, both in and out of the classroom. It made learning a much more immediate experience.

What I grew to hate was that Ohio Wesleyan was a pretty small community; you almost inevitably ran into people you didn't want to which is why in the last year and a half I lived off-campus. Still, learning to deal is part of the education process.

I think anyone who wants to be challenged and who really gets into learning and trying new things should look at Ohio Wesleyan University. The school maintains excellent facilities and faculty, the student body is diverse and talented, Columbus is a great place to explore, for people from urban or rural areas, and the school genuinely assists young people over the hurdles of learning who they are, who they want to become, and how to achieve their goals.
