Although I am not an English major my primary concern is with my experiences with the English department. I am an American Asian and I was treated by my English teacher as if I was a foreigner. My first semester English composition class was a nightmare. I could not seem to make the teacher understand that I am an American citizen, that I was born here, and that my first language is English.

Granted, I am not the greatest writer on earth, but i am not a D student. I got A and B in English in high school. When I spent a lot of time on my papers, the teacher did not acknowledge the improvement. Instead, my grades dropped. I went to the writing center to get help. Some tutors walked away from me in the middle of the session. Another actually helped me. the outcome? I was accused of cheating. According to the teacher, I had somehow done something wrong, though he never told me what that problem was. I received a D for that class and had to repeat it.

The problem carried over into my major department and I received very bad treatment from my counselor. I was denied entry into my program. I ended up quitting school. I hate that school more than you can imagine.

And oh, before I forget, I was treated like a FOREIGNER! All because I am of Asian descent. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THOSE PEOPLE?
