People should excpect a general level of ignorance in the student body that is unparalleled by most institutions claiming to provide "higher education." Eugene offers an abundance of potent marijuana and the neighboring city, Springfield (aka "Springtucky), offers a disturbing abundance of meth. The Eugene Police Department is notoriously racist, sexually aggressive toward women, and violent toward young adults. The University administration has no interest in students' success; its aim is quite obviously to take your money, promote sports over scholarship (as seen in the low level of education among the faculty members). If prospective students desire a university that prides itself on the number of microbrews available and the Judaic studies department, this may be the school to attend, but for those looking to expand their horizons, the University of Oregon is a wasteland.

I have to agree with this review in all aspects. UOwe is a waste of money and tuition is used for the debt service for ridiculous non academic building projects. Over 1/2 of the student body is from out of state, meaning kids too stupid to get into CA public unis or too idiotic to realize the poor quality of U of Owe. Is that an institution that anyone wants to attend? If so, then you've got some very serious issues…

To the comment above you sound like a dick. I go here and I am from to California. First off do you know how crazy hard it is to even get into most of the CA public schools? All the UC's except the reject one's like Riverside are extremely hard for pretty much anyone to get into. The average GPA of needed for them to even bother to consider accepting you is around a 4.3. Furthermore, they get so many applications a year that only the creme of the crop get in. On top that that they are more focused on accepting out of state kids as their tuition is more expensive. Also, If you even don't even bother applying to the state schools like Long Beach State as they are incredibly impacted. I got in to UC's like Davis and UCLA but still couldn't attend as they were still far to expensive. Oregon was the only school that gave me a full ride so I had no real choice
