Major: Business - Management and Administration (This Major's Salary over time)
I am a non-traditional student (that is I started attending college a little later in life) which offers a fresh prospective from the "norm". I was not all that studious in High School so I waited to attend college. I worked for a few years, served in the U.S. Army for four years and then started at Miami at age 27.Miami University definitely has to be in the top 25 most beautiful campuses in the United States. Having been founded in 1809 the buildings are very stately. The grounds are well maintained with beautiful quad areas that have many trees and plant life. The campus is straight out of the movies. If it is student body ethnic diversity that you are looking for, you will not find that here. Most of the students come from economically advantaged families, however most are still very approachable and kind. This bodes well for students that seeking admission that offer ethnic diversity.Academically, the school is top notch. The professors are very interested in knowing their students. You will find that professors are available outside of their posted office hours and are eager to assist you. The course work is challenging, but with solid study skills a student can excel easily. The party scene at Oxford is very lively. Most students put academics first with partying a very close second. Miami students want our cake and we eat it too. I do not attend many parties because I am a little old for that, but there is always a party to attend. The University does not allow alcohol in any dorm no matter what your age!I have heard Miami referred to as "The college of beautiful people," and this is true. If you were considered "average" in High School, you will be on the low end of the spectrum here. This has started to change a little over my three years here, but not too much. One last bit of advice. You need to work very hard at first to get at least a 3.0 or better GPA going as most majors have high GPA requirements for admittance into their major. It is much easier to maintain a high GPA than it is to bring up a low GPA.
