Colgate helped me immensely. It was a perfect school to go to: it was isolated, so I was forced to concentrate on my academics; it was very rigorous, therefore I have found subsequent graduate work to be almost easy in comparision; the social atmosphere helped me grow and develop; and, the professors are unparalleled. I definitely should have gone into college with more caution concerning my preparation. The first semester was very academically challenging, since I wasn't prepared to study and I definitely over-committed myself to extracurricular activities (easy to do at Colgate). Also, be aware, grade inflation does not exist at Colgate. So go into Colgate aware that you'll have to work hard to be successful from the beginning. Don't join too many groups, but don't be an academic hermit either. Colgate is composed of very active students and you'll get the most out of college by being active yourself.
