If you are a good student GO TO THE HONORS COLLEGE. Human Situation has been the best part of my experience here and I forsee it remaining as such for the duration of my stay at UH. The professors who teach that program are brilliant and that course sequence truly exemplifies what a real higher level course at other college campuses.

Do not be shocked by the academic quality of many of your classmates. Many think they are quite intelligent (maybe relative to the rest of the university) but often make asinine comments. Others are very lazy and seem more to sit around talking in the Commons than to study. Some however, are quite bright and talented and make you wonder why they are here rather than some other school like UT-Austin or Rice.

I could not stand the overall environment here (lack of campus spirit, commuter-ness, lack of department prestige and internship/job placement facilities), despite my appreciation for my professors and will be transferring into a USNWR Top 10 school next year.

The Honors College is getting better, but it's not there yet. If you feel like it, go here for a year for the Human Situation courses and the great scholarships, then transfer to Austin, if you need.
