I was thinking the same thing, and you keyed on it: these people wouldn't have been happy ANYWHERE. I knew some of them when I was at UH- people would complain about the school non-stop, and how the school they wanted to go to was so amazing. Many of them eventually made it to their preferred schools, and guess what? They were just as miserable. |
If some of you dont realize how much funding A&M and UT get compared to that of any school in Texas, I suggest to look at what Permanent University Funding, commonly PUFund, is (Wikipedia explains it, but poorly). Something that should be offered to EVERY school in Texas, (because it was state donation) is only offered to UT and A&M. By the way, this fund helps UT have the 4th largest endowment out of EVERY University/College in the US… and they are barely top 50. |
You're factually incorrect when you say 98% of the campus commutes.12% of students live on-campus. This is comparable to the University of Texas at Austin's 15%. Would you call UT-Austin a commuter campus? |
Is there really as much racial tension as every one says there is? |
Re: commutingThere are around 7,000 on-campus students at UT—but this doesn't include the estimated 27,000 more students living in greek Housing, private residence halls, and housing co-ops. (source= wiki, common sense). It would have been nicer to have a larger on-campus population at UH, but there are plenty of groups and activities if you make it a point to look for them. Re: racial tensionI experienced no racial tension on campus during my undergrad at UH—quite the opposite; the diversity is awesome. Every campus group I got involved in was comprised of people from all races, nobody ever cared. |

Right off the bat I noticed so many negative comments, but why? As I read further, a fellow cougar pointed out something out, those negative comments came from those individuals that chose UH as a "last resort"… I was accepted into UT-Austin, Baylor, Wake Forest, Duke, and UH. Of those I chose UH. At first I was extremely hesitant because of the negative stigma it has received (like review sites such as this), but it is one of the best decisions ive made in life. The Goods…
