I am a very close relative of a female student and I feel compelled to comment about her overall education. A publicly educated, top of her class, sweet, naive and insecure teenager searching for a better version of herself attended Miami. She now emulates the shallow, spoiled, characterless, materialistic, bratty cardboard cutouts that she calls her classmates. Her mother should have gone through with her threat to pull her out of Miami and send her to a community college so she didnt lose sight of what is important and right in life. If she ever wants to be in a profession that makes a difference in peoples lives she needs to be deprogrammed. Who ever heard of a campus group thats sole purpose is defending their public schooling against those that went to private school?

To add to the comment, Miami has turned out to resemble a glorified private highschool. They are socially and intellectually unprepared to compete with and relate to grad students in worldclass research universities. Academically speaking they can handle it, but they will first need a couple years in the real world with the general public to mature, reconnect with their self images and shake off the huge Miami ego. Not to mention interact with minorities and foreign students to the point where they are comfortable. She and her functioning alcoholic friends do not possess any of the qualities they need to truly make it on their own as a competent adult. Fortunately most of them will have their filthy rich fathers to live off of until they find their husbands. Unfortunately my relative has is on the hard road to growupville. Only go to Miami if you are there for the academics and can commute. Living alone on a farm with cows will leave you in a better position than becoming a clone of empty wretched excess.

Sounds like someone else needs to grow up and possibly get a life…what a great idea, send her to community college. Im sure that will pay dividends in the real world. Give me a break and find something else to do with your life…and learn how to rate. Miami's educaitonal quality is a million times better than similar schools. Ignorance comes in many forms… *rolls eyes

I bet this gal is short and fat and would not be comfortable at Miami.
