Major: Economics (This Major's Salary over time)
I transferred to DU and dropped out after one quarter. What initially attracted me to the school was my false perception that DU was home to a socially active student body. While most students are friendly, only a precious few participate in activities outside of Greek life. But I chalk it up to the fact that the campus is relatively small and located in a boring city.As a Denver native, I knew beforehand that there wasn't much to do here but I was hoping that at least a small fraction of the student body would be interested in political and social issues. Yet, upon arriving at DU, I discovered that the vast majority of them just drink and eat out at the same bars and restaurants every single week.I would complain about the lack of diversity here, but it does without saying that the school and surrounding city is mostly white. On a brighter note, my Economics professors were nice and genuinely liked teaching the subject. However, the small faculty size only enables them to teach a hand full of upper level courses throughout the year. So if you fail to sign up by the end of priority registration week, you'll probably find that the classes you want to take have already been filled. And any satisfaction you might get from taking your major courses will surely be overshadowed by the burden of having to take a s*** load of foundation courses in addition to core (upper level) courses that aren't even remotely related to your major. Who wants to spend $30,000 a year for that?To wrap it up, Id say that you should attend DU if you think you might enjoy any or all of the following: Greek life, beer and snotty rich people. Id advise everyone else to look for another school.
