Major: Computer Science (This Major's Salary over time)
I was a bright high school student in APs and Honors. As a female computer science major, teachers treat me equally with the guys. The work is challenging because it gets competitive with my major but it's do-able. Even my core classes can be difficult at times, but the teachers are more than helpful and always available with office hours. You can get help at the math lab, science lab, the writing center..etc.

This campus is what drew me in. It's GORGEOUS - right on the Hudson River. You can walk down to the dock on sunny days and boats go by, it's so nice. Housing is a lot better than other places I visited. The new upperclassmen housing is brand new and very modern. Everyone I know loves it. Freshmen dorms have cleaning staff come every morning. Basically - you can't get screwed over with housing unless you get no housing (we go by Priority Points…higher GPA = more points. more clubs = more points. written up = penalty etc). This works better than random because at least people get what they deserve.

I don't think Marist is stuck up. I think it depends on who you associate yourself with. There are ALWAYS stuck up snobby people at any school you go to…every student is shallow to an extent. Don't judge people! With Marist being a private school, it does tend to attract people who have gone to private schools previously. But I'm from a public school and I love the variety here. Why does it matter if mom and dad get some people anything they want? What does it have to do with you…worry about yourself! Marist is an upbeat school that cares about the well-being of the community and environment. Everyone can find something to do to fit in in terms of clubs and sports. Really get involved to meet new people!

As far as the racism and minority thing goes…I'm not white and I'd say teachers and other students are not biased at all. Things have changed and I see so many different backgrounds at school. A lot of my teachers treat me equally and I'd say I have a lot of friends. I've met my best friends here and I think everyone questions if they made the right choice going to the college they picked or not. But I definitely made the right choice. Marist is very competitive to get into and I've met some really smart people who got into Cornell but chose Marist because there is so much life and personality.
