My overall experience at GSU was a positive one. For high school seniors looking into colleges let me offer a little advice. First off, GSU is in Atlanta. If you want to go to a ?traditional? college than I suggest GSU is not for you. If you?re an in-state student who doesn?t mind going to class smack dab in the middle of a major city than GSU might be for you. Let me start off with the negatives. The biggest negative of the school is its campus (GSU is currently embarking on a 1 billion dollar expansion plan, so the campus you go to will be far better one than the one I went to). You have to walk through raggedy streets to get to class and will be bothered by random people frequently. When this happens my advice to you is to keep it moving! Don?t be an ass but don?t allow yourself to be distracted by the people you?ll see on the streets. That brings me to my next. Safety! Safety is all about common sense. Walking from five points to campus expect to be talked to 2-3 times or more. Stay alert and be smart. During the day the campus is relatively safe. There are campus police and Atlanta Pd all around. At night is a little different. A number of people have been robbed on campus, so if you have night classes I recommend a police escort. Again the new campus layout proposal should deter future robbers. Social is average. The biggest thing about social life is it?s up to you. The kind of personality you have will determine the amount of interaction you have with other students. If you want to be involved than you will.

Those are basically all the negatives. The positives are one par with all of the other comments I read. This school has excellent business and law programs (both nationally ranked in the top 100). I was a pre-law major and let me tell you it wasn?t easy. If you think you can just come here and skate along because you?re not at Tech or UGA; think again! If you?re serious about your grades and want to learn than you will. A lot about college is up to you. The professors recognize effort! Come to class, study, and show effort and you?ll do fine. All the professors I encountered were helpful. Knew me personally and were of great benefit. Classes senior year were about 30 people or so. Expect intro classes to have more (there are 30k students there).

The city of Atlanta is also a plus. I?m from Oklahoma and have been around a small type atmosphere in Norman (that?s where the University of Oklahoma is). I wasn?t looking for a school like that (UGA for example). There are a lot of things to do in ATL. So keep an open mind and explore the city. All in all I had a good experience. GSU has a football program now that promises to be good, and new dorms are still being built. So I think GSU will be an overall better school that offers a more traditional feel.
