I did not enjoy my time in the MLIS (Library Science) program. Some students are very friendly, but many are closed-minded and cutthroat. Also, if you are a straight male, you may feel somewhat isolated. The faculty did not strike me as being particularly intelligent, and the course content was pretty vapid. Don?t rock the boat ?some faculty members will sabotage you. If you are the creative/innovative type, I would definitely stay away from this program ?and for that matter, UNCG in general. If you are unsure about going into a library science program you should definitely read the Annoyed Librarian blog and give it a lot of thought. Job prospects are pretty bad, pay is pretty bad, and the personalities of other librarians tend to be pretty bad. If you decide to go ahead with it, then I advise you to find a better Library Science program.
