I'm shocked at all of the negative reviews on here! I also find them kind of funny because they are so laughably untrue. These people are CRAZY! VCU is one of the best schools in the country. I have met some of the most amazing people on the planet at VCU. The school is so big and so diverse, it's almost impossible NOT to make friends. If someone can't find a good group to hang out with, they must have really horrible social skills. The students who go here are interesting, bright, funny, and nice. There are so many different groups of people: There are book worms and there are art students. There are preppy southern greeks and there are hipsters. There are rich people and there are poor people. There are conservatives and republicans. You just have to find your place. VCU is not the kind of school to hold your hand. It's for UNIVERSITY level students. It is in the city. If that isn't something that you want, than maybe you should look elsewhere. If you want a small school whose counselors know you by name, VCU probably isn't the school for you. If you are independent and capable of figuring things out on your own, maybe it is. The courses are challenging and very demanding. Compared to my friends who attend other schools, VCU has very high academic expectations. At the same time, VCU also has an awesome party scene. House parties go on every weekend (and some weekdays, too). All you have to do is walk through the fan and someone sitting on their porch will invite you in. There are tons of bars throughout Richmond as well. After going to VCU for 4 years and currently getting ready to graduate, I am incredibly sad to be leaving behind this amazing institution and all of the wonderful people I have met here. I am also so thankful for the education I have received and the opportunities I now have. I hope this review sheds some truth about VCU to those thinking of applying. I highly recommend it. :)
