I came to Belmont loving the school as a Music Business major.

However halfway into my second semester I realized how much I hated Music Business. The advisers for the department do not help much and do not encourage students about the current state of the music industry. In the Music Business department, the student to professor ratio is a complete lie. I'm in my major classes with about 30-40 other students, and a lot of those professors have no desire to learn my name. I'd understand if it was a lecture class of 500; but it's the same 30 kids you see three times a week, and I tell you my name every time I answer a question.

The schoolwork, in both my major and non-major classes, is outrageously easy. Unless you're a biology, chemistry, or nursing major, most freshman and sophomore students are not drowning in work like the typical college student. I've written many a research paper the night before in an hour and gotten an A on it with minimal effort. In fact, I sometimes leave mistakes in without correcting just to see if they're caught. They rarely are.

The students of the campus seem friendly and approachable and for the most part they are. However, if you don't hold Christian values or more conservative views, you seem to lose quite a few friends and respect quickly. I feel like I have to watch what I say and do because of the atmosphere here. There is a party scene off-campus, of which I do not partake, but those who do not party honestly don't do much except movie nights and church on the weekends.

I'm now transferring to a Political Science program closer to home that's more affordable and challenging than Belmont.
