I recently graduated from ECU. I visited UNCG, UNCC, and App State campuses before finally deciding on ECU. I loved my academic department and the faculty at ECU. The professors I had were my main reason for staying at ECU and not trying to transfer elsewhere.

The campus is pretty small, but is well kept up with beautiful trees and flowers. I liked how everything was so close; it only took 15 minutes to walk from one side of campus to the other. However, the architecture of the buildings is pretty plain. Food and dining on campus was okay, I just wish there were healthier options available.

People seemed to complain about campus parking, but I found it a lot better than other campuses I've been on. The ECU bus system is also excellent.

I'd say the biggest negative about ECU is the city, Greenville. The crime is pretty bad for such a small city, especially around the campus area. However, I never had any problems because I did not walk alone and never ventured out after 1AM. The restaurant selection is pretty decent, but most all of the good restaurants are not downtown. If you will be staying on campus, you won't really notice how lame Greenville is. However, Greenville was not a deal breaker for me and I decided to stay at ECU despite the fact that I hated living in Greenville. Lastly, I will say that Greenville and Eastern NC was a very tight-knit community that has a lot of respect for ECU. I always felt very welcome as a student in Greenville.
