My overall A-F grades of the campus are relatively good, but I transferred out of RIT after 6 months and never looked back. The people were nice but I have never felt so depressed in my life coming here. Upon moving out before the next quarter started, I went to several floors looking for an RA and they were all out on some trip. I knocked on about 10 doors (5 floors) for something as simple as a vacuum and nobody answered. I left my room damage-free but with dirt on the floor and was then charged $50 for a damage fee which could have been prevented if RA's were available to give me a vacuum.

College activities depend on what club you join. Tried joining the tech crew, and left with a bad taste in my mouth due to the extreme immaturity the group leaders displayed upon talking to me.

Food: Eh, Gracies. For college food, it wasn't that bad. Other food options are okay. I hear Artesano's and Ben & Jerry's are being replaced with campus dining options, which is sad, because I liked both of those places (despite the exorbitant prices) and prefer having chains on campus that accept meal options than campus food.

Tip: The 10+ meal plan is the best. Also if you run out of meal options, getting Chinese delivered for $12 that can take the place of two lunches and a dinner is cheaper than going to Gracie's and paying ~$11 for just one dinner.

Housing is a complete joke and extremely difficult to work with. Charged me for rent when I wasn't there and refused to remove the fee. I did try to be reasonable offered to pay for damage since, even though I did try to find a vacuum upon moving out, they did technically clean the room. But they basically got a free week of rent off me despite me never coming back to the university again. They claim they can't give the room to anyone else, but there were numerous empty spaces throughout my building. Instead of walking 3 minutes to check to see if anyone is there, they send urgent notices via email instead of telephone when a student is on a leave of absence. You'd think they'd call you for something important, but I actually never received a phone call from anyone in administration my entire time there for anything urgent. Campus Email is apparently an acceptable way of contacting someone on a leave.

This ordeal just added fuel to the fire of why I hated that school. I wouldn't tell anyone not to go there, because it seems they do try, but my experience tells me that none of the departments actually communicate with one another properly. You're stuck calling administrative department after department and there's no coordination between them.

It appears as though they're also going with some new management system called PeopleSoft, despite much student angst against the system. It seems like another waste of money for something that improves very little and something that other students have nearly-proven can be done by them alone.

responseSorry sems like a lot of whining
comment^ I think it was a pretty objective complaint. I wouldn't tell anybody not to go there, I just felt it was a very mismanaged school and didn't have the best intentions of the students in mind. Ask anyone - the people in housing suck.

Registration turned out to be pretty bad, as expected.

I feel like the people here make a lot of sacrifices "because it's RIT", when there are better schools you don't have to make sacrifices to attend.

I transferred to another university and I don't have any of the issues RIT gave me.
