I will post future advice. I have tons to say. Right now I will say one positive and one negative. Please read if you are thinking about this school!

The BAD: Housing - The housing office is probably the worst part of UNCG and I've considered transferring just because of them. They are unorganized, don't communicate within the office, and don't tell the RA's anything. That or they hire horrible RAs who are never there when you need them. I went to an RA office once when 3 RAs were there to ask a question about an upcoming room swap (that had been announced on the website about 2 weeks prior) and NONE of them knew about it and were swearing to me that the deadline passed. I told them that they were wrong and they laughed about it and said they had no idea. I also wanted to move off my hallway my freshman year because of personal issues I was having with a couple girls on the hall and my RA accused me of not being friendly enough or trying to be their friend before jumping to the option to move even though I did try! They are extremely extremely rude and insensitive to people with any sort of mental abnormality. I work better with a single room. I have one over summer because the option is there and get A's when I do. This semester I started with 21 hours, now I have 7 with one class I dropped after the drop date all because of housing and roommate related problems. I literally cannot function with a roommate, I'm more likely to drop classes, skip class and I get very antsy to the point where I sometimes pace around the room and feel like screaming at my roommate. They say they can't because single rooms are on a disability basis yet I have mild depression, anxiety AND there are singles in the Quad that any sophomore can sign up for without disability. Because I want to be 100% accurate and send a good amount of emails, they hold a grudge against me and don't answer my emails or questions even though it's their job. If they do the response I get is

Go to the housing website
I wouldn't be emailing if I found the answer on the website, it's not there half the time. My questions are usually very specific. I had problems with one roommate (who moved into my assigned room during room swap from a SINGLE room against my wishes) and housing was extremely biased and sided with her. When I made my argument about my needs they would not listen to me and told me to sign a roommate agreement that I didn't agree with or they would kick me off campus and fine me $500. Along with that I got called into the housing office to talk with a director and they told me that if they moved me to another double that they felt as though the same issues would occur and that I would keep causing problems though I had no previous record of it. They also told me if I switched I'd be stuck there the rest of the year and I had to abide by the current agreement in the room and my say would not be factored in. I also recently knew of a single room that is opening in the quads and asked housing if there was any way I could secure it for myself and they basically told me go reading day and hope for the best or suck it up.

The GOOD (mostly): Academics - I actually like the academics here. I think I've only not liked 2 teachers in 3 years (and summer sessions) I've been here. All my teacher's have been very helpful and I've enjoyed almost all my classes with the exception of Spring 2012. I've never felt pushed by my CASA or current advisors and found them very helpful and very available if I needed help. I did have problems in the Bio department though. I found some of the teachers and especially the advisors to be very condescending. I had to cancel a meeting once because I was sick and it was rainy and cold out, I told him I didn't want to aggravate my cold and he felt as though he had to one up me and told me I shouldn't have canceled and that cold weather doesn't cause people to get sick. I even had another tell me that Classics wasn't a real degree and that I didn't have the skills to work in a museum (I worked in one for about 5 months in high school, so I'm glad she knows me so well.)
