The University of Waterloo (Canada)

I regret coming to this University, the City and the campus is depressing. Waterloo has Canada's ugliest Campus. The buildings are not completely painted, cement and plasters are visible in the Walls of Buildings. There are geese and geese excrement are every where, the campus stinks.

Most University furniture are broken, the labs does not have adequate equipment. In one course, our professor changed our group from 4 members to 8 members because of scarce and faulty lab equipment. The labs are small and always overcrowded. The professors admit that the Labs are underfunded.

The UWaterloo library is small compared to other major universities, you will rarely find a study space in the Library.

The gym and athletic facilities are an ignominy, even many colleges have better gym and athletic facilities than University of Waterloo.

Every University club is underfunded.

Most classes have 500-600 students, sometimes it is even difficult to hear the professors speak.

All the other major universities in Canada have a separate graduation hall, but UWaterloo graduation ceremony is held in the GYM-PAC. It seems the University, which charges one of the highest tuition in Canada, can't even afford to have a separate hall for special events.

The co-op fee is $600, higher than any other University, but you will receive no assistance from them in your co-op search.

UWaterloo admits good students with scholarship, than withdraws it just after the first year and then increases the tuition.

Most courses I have taken were poorly structured, classes and labs were overcrowded,TA's often misplace and lose assignments, even examination centers are overcrowded.

Although Waterloo is supposed to be an English speaking University, you will rarely hear English there, the majority of Teacher's Assistants do not speak English there, and most professors have incomprehensible accents. If you only know English and French,and not the languages the TA's speak, then you will not fit in UWaterloo.

UWaterloo is only 50 years old, and it is trying to be the best in Canada, their advertisements will say that it is the best University in Canada for Engineering,CS and Math, but once you go there you will realize that the University is grossly underfunded.

I deeply regret coming to this University, I wish I could go back in time and change my decision.
