This is a Philadelphia School. If your roots or destiny are in Philadelphia, going here will suit you quite well (the local professions are full of SJU alumni) It is not a national, or even a regional, university. Many students here are first generation College, there are a few alumni legacies, but, for the most part, SJU grads will send their offspring to other Jesuit and National Universities. To some, this reality smarts. Many students and alumni cherish the education, experience and opportunities offered by Hawk Hill. The school's reputation in Philly is untouchable and the degree will be respected locally and by many graduate and professional schools regionally. But that is about as far as it goes. If College for you is Pride and Hubris, then perhaps you should consider the offerings at at UPenn or VIllanova. On the other hand, the "tradeoff", SJU will reward those who take advantage of the unique opportunites that it offers
