The department where I am obtaining my Hispanic Studies MA is very political, unorganized, and expectations are purposefully vague so that professors can manipulate you into taking certain courses. The Teaching Fellowship program is the total opposite - the coordinator is clear and everything is structured to help the TF. The content that is taught is a little too pro-US and anti-Latin America, but it is a good way to get teaching experience.TLDR: Apply for a "free" Master's but don't expect to be able to do what you want. If a professor tells you something, GET IT IN WRITING and triple check so that you can graduate.
