Overall I would say that FIU has given me a great value for my degree, enjoyment and future career prospects. A couple of things regarding how people negatively review this school:1-Commuter school: Well ya… and guess what? Every university in a major urban setting is also a commuter school regardless of prestige or what they would like you to believe. Some examples, Fordham, Houston, UT Austin, Chicago, UCLA, UC Berkeley, USC, Miami… et al. Yup, it's CHEAPER to go to a great school that's in your back yard where you're a resident. Have an issue with staying with mommy and you're not one of the jones' well get a side job and deal with it. I'd rather be out of debt and enjoying making my post degree money rather than paying it off. For me personally, I'm a disabled vet and I'm enjoying Miami.2-Largely hispanic: Really? You have an issue with diversity? C'mon… you should enjoy being around other cultures, people, etc. Also it does say international in the name… so kinda a big deal.3-Recognition: Honestly I think that this school has grown tremendously in the last decade… heck from my research the last 5 years. 5 or 10 years from now when this school has a strong national recognition those people who were hating will at that time be paying prime prices for the name. Give it up to the "up and comers."Great value, amazing student body (really… amazing students… you get it), faculty are helpful with a lot of excellent life experience and knowledge, rankings are improving and curriculum is enjoyable and challenging, application of knowledge towards career goals is very good, AMAZING CITY… yes it's worth it.Ya'll go into debt and freeze up north in some ivy league… I'm going to get a great education for money, enjoy my environment and also pick through a couple of job offers that I already have ahead of me. Future looks great!
