I'm currently a senior at Appalachian and I think MANY of the students are pretentious and snooty. I've met a few hospitable individuals while there. I transferred in as a junior and I've tried to be as open and easy going as possible with fellow students. I get by alright and I'm above a 3.0 GPA. If you go to Appalachian, unless you find something I've missed, don't expect too many friendships that go below the flakey, superficial stage. As far as the educational experience, the teachers are WONDERFUL, very approachable and just all around great people. I don't know what makes the students such capricious, pretentious, drunks when they have such intellectuals at their disposal every day in class. If you get in and decide to go to Appalachian, good luck. I hope you have more luck than me. Right now, I'm working on getting into grad school at ANOTHER university that I've taken courses at before and absolutely adore.
