Major: Social Work (This Major's Salary over time)
Marist College is a population of a little under 5,000 students. The people are really friendly and whether you've had a class with another student or you're just meeting them for the first time people go out of their way to be considerate and helpful. The upperclassman help the underclassman find their way around. There is a lot of a activities to do whether you're participating in the Division 1 athletics that Marist offers, or you're doing one of the many extracurriculars. We do have a few sororities and fraternities, although i wouldn't say they're very popular. The classes are typically small with a maximum of about 25 students. I find this aspect of Marist's academics to be really awesome because you're not "just a number" and you're professors identify with you and are able to know who you are if you need help in a class. Also it allows you to really connect with your peers and branch out with all different types of people. The only bad thing about Marist for me, is in regards to the social life. Marist is what you would call "a bar school" meaning that there are typically not off-campus parties to go to. However, if you're choosing not to consume alcohol (because you're not 21 yet) Marist offers events such as movie nights in the Student PAR, which play the newest releases. The offer comedians, and there are typically plays going on produced by the students. It's also fun to go watch the different athletic teams compete. In addition, Marist always offers a chance for students to go into NYC and see theater shows for about 25$ total, which is unbelievable. They usually have trips to six flags and ski trips as well.I honestly don't really think there is much bad to say about Marist, sure people will complain about the cafeteria food, but they've even stepped it up in the Cafe.
