The University of Hartford

Overall, I like this school. I like it because I have great friends here, the college has really great programs, and it's nice to be located near a city. The education here is very good, but a lot of the faculty are arrogant and not very helpful. And it's generally very overpriced. Getting an appointment with your adviser and registering for classes is a very difficult task. The communications/journalism program isn't challenging at all. I never have a lot of homework. But some other programs are really tough (such as science programs, architecture, engineering, and Hartt school programs). UH is really good with giving out grants and scholarships also, so that a plus.

Also,The University of Hartford campus is ugly. When I visit schools where the buildings were built in the 1800's and the architecture is beautiful (like Trinity College), I get really jealous. Most of the buildings here were built in the 1970' or 80's and you can tell. But college isn't really about the buildings, it's about the education.

There is usually plenty to do on weekends. There are a lot of night clubs in Hartford, there's a mall near by, there are tons of restaurants, and there's always a party happening on campus. Even though Hartford is a dangerous city, I feel pretty safe on campus. Oh and if you need a repair in your apartment, they take a REALLY long time to get it done.If it weren't for my friends and the programs here, I probably would have transferred. But I like it here.

This school is dependant on your situation really. I'm a commuter so I don't have to endure idiotic on-campus life. Most of the people at the school are pretty high up on themselves due to daddy and mommy giving them enough money to be kings and princesses. This school on the other side though attracts some intellectuals, though, if you aren't in thier major you barely ever see them. Usually the decent people go to the Hartt School the Art dept. or even the IT majors. You get actually alot of the emo kinda kids here (the ones with the dumb top hats, parted hair, eyeliner) but also some down to earth people. Then there are those who are just stoners, talking ONLY about new places to smoke and not really putting effort into classes and still pulling mediocre to decent grades. This school is basically not too much of a drag, although, it depends on your major. I know the engineers actually DO a decent amount of work. The rest just really sift through getting wasted or not caring about life at all. If you are living on campus and aren't the typical boring college person or jock or frat boy, you might tend to dislike it. After all, you continuously hear idiotic yelling outside or some stupid argument above you or crap music blasting on the outside. The dorms themselves are alright, some have heating and AC problems leaving your sleep schedule messed up at times. This school is bascially just average on everything. One good thing about the school I found was that professors are actually pretty damn nice and ALWAYS have helped me out. Im just staying for my high gpa/my scholarships for my cheap education though. So basically, if your a person that's like 'eh whatever, college, yea, want to get through it but do what I want with a small challenge' then this school should be ok for you.
