George Washington is truly one of the mostQuite BrightOther
George Washington is truly one of the most unique universities in the world. It is only blocks from The White House, Capital, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and countless other powerful governmental buildings or corporations. GW has great programs for people interested in journalism, and offers MANY incredible internships for its students. The professors are knowledgeable, and the dorms are very nice(HOVA even has a pool on the roof). Most people here are very affluent, but what can you expect at a private university? Some people are on financial aid, so it's fairly diverse socioeconomically, and GW is over 30% minority to add to the eclectic and interesting feel to the campus. The Basketball team is really popular, but most people here are not the jock types. There's plenty of partiers and people who are involved in student organizations, but Greek life is not really big on campus. I would say half the students are drinkers while the other half does their own thing. There's plenty of people to hang out with regardless of your preferences. If you are interested in Greek Life, it's totally unlike other schools in the US because they are more like service organizations and ways to meet people than ways to party. The university shut down SAE and some other fraternities who hazed, so there's no worries with the whole "binge-drinking" thing other colleges are experiencing. The student body is extremely hard-working and ambitious, which can be a pain sometimes if you're interested in running for virtually any elected office(especially the highly popular Student government). Some professors are brilliant, but I've had a couple who need to work on their English skills. The girls(not so much the guys) are japy and materialistic. However, they look nice and make the campus look hipper. There's plenty of people not like that, but be aware of that type.GW is a great school and it has been a great choice for me!

Question
GWU is a great school to go ifBusiness - Management and Administration
GWU is a great school to go if you like big city life. There is tons to do outside of just school and studying. There are college bars and then there are city bars in gtown, adams morgan, etc. tons of companies and political organizations hiring as interns and hell you will be making $25K just working 20 hrs a week.

the academics at gwu are pretty good too. the professors are smart and helpful. the library is awesome, you will love sitting in the ground floor reading room and studying there with other students. i've spent many a night slouched on those couches with other procrastinators.

the student body is a diverse group...search and you will find someone who fits your type. there are people from the west coast, nyc, jewish, all types of international groups, literary types with ratty jeans and my fav (psyche!) frat/sorority bubble heads. plus there are tons of graduate students and part time students, so look around and do stuff and you should be able to make friends.GW rocks....if you are a motivated smart individual or want to become one, i highly recommend my alma mater!

Good atmosphere. Very pricey, but good academics for liberal arts, journalism, and international affairs.
