Positive Negative Neutral Advice
I truly despise Marist college as far asQuite BrightHistory/Histories (art history/etc.)
I truly despise Marist college as far as the individuals who attend the school are concerned. I was in between schools and kinda got suckered by my family into going there. I hated it from the moment I attended, but the only way for me to get financial assistance from my family was to go there. I don't know how else I could have afforded to go to college as it is difficult to get a loan on one's own.

There is only one type of student at Marist; upper middle class rich kids. The are mostly conservative and if you are the littlest bit different from them, you will not have many friends. These people are dense, alcoholic, materialistic individuals who reply to what I just typed would be "You're just jealous."

The saving grace for me is the history professors. They are all extremely intelligent and helpful. If it wasn't for faculty, I would have quit a long time ago. If you are close-minded and conservative, this is the school for you. If not, run. Run for your lives! I will never miss this college once I leave.

Question
To be all negative about Marist College wouldQuite BrightFine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc
To be all negative about Marist College would not benefit anyone. Marist is focused on Fashion and Liberal Art. They are a Private college which is all about money like most 99 percent colleges. Business and Money before the Student best interest. Reason Poughkeepsie, NY survives is based on Marist, Vassar, Dutchess County Community College, Culinary Institute of America and possible SUNY New Paltz. Marist College is geared towards the wealthy. Many students find cliques and join clubs to have fun. Less than average college structure that your degree carries little weight but it is all up to you (the individual student) to make the most of your education and life. College Degrees are just a piece of paper. Show your true self and worth and work hard, then you'll do great in your personal and financial life. Good Luck! I do not recommend Marist College but I leave that decision to you. Oh! Marist has a wonderful 1st year Study Abroad opportunity for select (limited 40 to 60) students called "Freshman Florence Experience" so if you get selected might be worth it then transfer to another college for Sophomore year, etc.

Question
I'm a freshman at Marist.Quite BrightEducation
I'm a freshman at Marist. I, somehow, survived the first semester and am going back for the spring semester in a week. Although I really detest being there, I've already made my decision and intend to stick it out. This is for anyone who is in the decision-making process:

1. Marist is very small. I thought I wanted to go to a small liberal arts school but in all honesty there is nothing to do and nowhere to go on campus. It's ridiculous.

2. If you love shallow, expensive partying go to Marist. The only thing to do on weekends (and every other night of the week for that matter) is to go to one of four Poughkeepsie bars, spend a shitload of money, try your damnedest to get a wristband, and dance like a slut to crappy music all night. Not my scene.

3. I was really looking forward to making lasting relationships in college. haha...the majority of people here are incredibly shallow, rich, and entitled. Being very down to earth, middle class, and relatively liberal, I have almost no friends. Granted, there are students out there who actually use their brains but they are so isolated by the general population that they're nearly impossible to seek out.

4. Marist provides no opportunity for personal development or growth. Very few students have opinions on important issues and almost no one puts effort into bettering the world. Personal responsibility is completely absent. okay, I've sufficiently depressed myself. I'm much too uncertain to transfer but if you're reading this and still have an out, TAKE IT!! unless, of course, you're preppy, shallow, and close-minded. Otherwise, fuck the view of the Hudson River and go to a real college.
