DO NOT GO HERE FOR THE CEE GRADUATE PROGRAM. I was a graduate student here and had an absolutely horrid time.

No help on choosing the right courses. but of course, don't blame anybody here cuz the courses offered are stupid as hell. No depth, just skimming over the surface of engineering concepts. Sustainability is a farce.

You walk into the department and you'll find a bunch of immature international students boasting about their drinking escapades. No focus among the students. Only interested in talking extra loudly to put others down.

Look up a list of alumni and you'll only find failures. Why? Obviously cuz alums aren't willing to give back. I did not get any sort of help in my career search. The department's professors are only interested in prioritizing the "cool kids", ignore the more sincere and hard-working ones.

Don't even get me started on research. It doesn't exist. Simple.
I tried to get a research position. Profs were dead against a Masters student even getting involved in their research. I got catapulted between 5 professors who kept "referring" me to another one. Overall, my grad program was a SHAM. No good courses, no good research. Extremely unhelpful student body.

The most impressive assets of Carnegie Mellon UrbanFeb 20 2019Architecture
The most impressive assets of Carnegie Mellon Urban design program is their faculty cohort and the course structure. The core courses are structured very well and tie up brilliantly with the studio design prohects. There's a lot of emphasis on Research and there are courses every semester focussed on improving yput software skillset amongst others which is a great asset to have when trying to get a job. The faculty cohort is as impressive as it gets yet is extremely kind, easy to access and eminently friendly and involved in each students overall development. There are opportunities for students to TA certain classes and there are several faculties who employ students for research but that is an aspect that could get even better. The workload immense. Spending nights in studio is common but it is equally rewarding since the knowledge you gain is unmatched. The students come from diverse backgrounds and are helpful and driven. Do not be surprised to meet some brilliant batchmates who could go on to become superstars in the future. The campus is well laid out and maintained and the facilities are connstantly being improved. The negatives: the campus food is despicable and social life can be impacted heavily due to the severe workload. Pittsburghs weather does not do it justice. It is actually a lovely city with several interesting neighborhoods and lots of activities. Overall Carnegie Mellon is a brilliant school if you are willing to put in the work and able to absorb the course load.
The Physics Department is completely unreasonable and cruelMay 31 2017Physics
The Physics Department is completely unreasonable and cruel. They don't advise or help the students in any manner or fashion. The administration is a bunch of old white guys who are racist and sexist and care nothing about students and students learning. The courses are not educational at all and provide no physics background or foundation. The courses are a complete waste of time at this department. There is also too much politics in this department to the extent that it's very difficult to concentrate on doing research or studying. Some professors are better than others, but most are arrogant, condescending, unhelpful, racist and sexist. If you seriously want to learn and do research in physics without spending most of your time in the cross fire of the politics of this place, avoid at all costs.
A very damaging, horrible horrible place-Dec 24 2015Fine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc
A very damaging, horrible horrible place- a very big SCAM of a graduate program where you will be harassed by horrible faculty and get a good start on ruining your life. The worst people I have ever met. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! THERE IS NO ART GRADUATE PROGRAM- DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANY ARTISTIC DEGREE, IT IS A VERY VERY DAMAGING PLACE
DO NOT GO HERE FOR AN MFANov 14 2015Art & Design Department
DO NOT GO HERE FOR AN MFA. This was the single most horrifying three years I could ever imagine, faculty who back stab you, no resources, no classes, no administration, constant stress, they lie to you, they basically mug you for your future earnings, DO NOT GO TO CMU! BEWARE! It is is SCAM and a very HORRIBLE place.
