Positive Negative Neutral Advice
Many today are not intersted in self disciplineEnglish
Many today are not intersted in self discipline or restraint from worldly pleasures. Those students that do not come to BJU with a heart attitude to love God more and become more like Him will not be happy at BJ. In fact they will become bitter and useless to Him. The rules will irritate them because they never learned that obedience to authority is obedience to God.

Most rules never bothered me because I was taught by my parents that rules have purpose for all and are for my good. I loved "dorm" life. I felt safe and made life-long friends during my years in school. I was required to get out of my comfort zone and to be the best I could be in my classes.I am thankful now(although I did not always appreciate it at the time) for the concerts and extra services required of us because it gave me a more well rounded education.

My training at BJ certainly prepared me for my current position because I learned to think(public education never taught me that in high school.)

The standards BJU has in place make it the perfect environment for the caring Christian parent to send an 18 year old. 18 year olds are not ready to live unrestrained lives and make decsions without godly quidence. Teens have godly help in growing to maturity and in establishing godly principles for life and service for God.

I met my husband at BJU. Three of my children have graduated from the University and my youngest is a current student. Each is currently working in the areas they majored as a pilot, teacher, artist, and business majors.

My advice to potential students is to work hard, cultivate a spirit to serve, ask questions and seek help from teachers regularly. You can be all you want to be with God's help at BJU. The "inconvenience" of some rules are nothing in the great scheme of life...not when all the tools for a successful life are available for a person that is willing to submit to God's control.

Question
Rules... by choosing BJU as your college youBrightReligion/Religious
Rules... by choosing BJU as your college you are subjecting yourself to them therefore as your temporary authority and does Christ not call us to obey them that have the rule over us? No obedience to God-ordained authority is hypocrisy if done through love for Christ. Those who claim that the university was too restrictive and tout a lack of grace and love reject those very things themselves by silently demanding that their own preferences be the rule instead of understanding the diverse constituency here and submitting themselves in love to the potentially more conservative standards of their brothers and sisters.

No one is perfect and BJU doesn't ask for perfect students. Students therefore cannot expect a perfect faculty, though they will find one here that genuinely loves the Lord and the students He has brought here.
