Positive Negative Neutral Advice
On the one hand, the college is anQuite BrightAnthropology
On the one hand, the college is an outstanding community full of people that get along. Things are blown out of proportion because there is often never anything serious wrong. On the other hand, that might be because the college's concept of diversity is white kids from Virginia and white kids from Jersey and Connecticut.

Like every university, W&M attracts certain types of people, among them being bright, motivated, intelligent, friendly, helpful and outgoing people...it's so true that the majority of students who are involved in campus activities will praise W&M to high heaven because it IS a wonderful place for them...people who love W&M are students who aren't necessarily grade grubbers, but DO complain a lot when they get a grade that they feel they don't deserve since most people work their butts off...they also know that you don't need nightclubs, crowded streets, fashion shows, etc. to have a good college experience...i personally recommend the greek system here rather than at some large urban universities because it's low-key and a source of positive pride in addition to social prospects...

and, yeah, colonial williamsburg sucks but it's also kind of cool to be living next to living history...besides, you have everything you need on campus anyways and it's gorgeous in the fall and spring...warning: it DOES rain a lot here, ridiculous amounts in the winteranother piece of advice: don't assume that you are the only student who loves it/hates it/studies blah blah blah...there are SO many kinds of people here and you're bound to find someone just like you, as corny as that sounds.

Question
I can't speak for anyone else, but asQuite BrightPhilosophy
I can't speak for anyone else, but as a Philosophy major, I can easily say this has to be not only of the best majors on campus, the most minimally appreciated. W&M's philosophy campus is first-rate with professors who are elite in their own field (all of them have written their own books) and they constantly foster thinking and creativity. What's best though, is that I've even got a job where I use my major in the real world as a writer. If you go to W&M, you must at least minor in Philosophy.
