Hofstra is a good school with great professors and a pretty nice campus. As with everywhere, there are both nice and not-so-nice people to find; you just have to find your niche and be outgoing. It is a suburban campus, so outside of the local bars there isn't much to do. The local bar scene is pretty good, though. If you need more excitement, you should probably go to a school in the city. Hofstra was good for me because the administration and resources (like free tutoring) were great and there weren't many distractions. The campus is very high tech with a lot of notes and course info online. There are loads of new computers available on campus in labs, which is definitely a plus. I recommend commuting versus living on campus; the dorms are kind of poopy unless you are in the Netherlands. The two best things about Hofstra are the resources available to students every step of the way and the highly qualified professors who really help you learn.
