I would not say that Miami will necessarily be a negative experience for you if you are not an SUV-driving, Greek loving, image-mongering, upper-middle class spoiled child from the suburbs, but be aware that stereotypes sometimes do have their roots in reality. I believe I received a decent education from Miami but socially it took me a while to find my niche and to feel accepted. I definitely found the Miami "type" overwhelming at times, but like anything else and anywhere else, if you look hard enough you can and will find people and activities that you enjoy.
