There are at least four 24 hour places to eat on campus if not more that I can't think of. There are a number of concert venues very nearby on 4th or downtown so there's something to do. Tucson is known as an artistic community with many galleries etc. Just because you're in theatre doesn't mean you understand wholly Tucson's artistic community. Oh, and name a city with a population of ~1 million that is SAFE in America… |
Major: Fine Arts - Painting/Sculpture/Photography/etc (This Major's Salary over time)
Do not go here if you are interested in the arts. I went here to study costume/fashion design. First UA doesnt have any fashion related courses, and the theatre department is wacko. I had to take numerous classes that had nothing to do with costumes (acting, stage craft and construction aka SLAVECRAFT)Then I was told that I couldnt take pattern making—a basic skill—until my senior year!! There are many differnt cliques in theatre and non of them talk or get along. The art dept. never offers enough couses to fill the demand of their students, and some of the instructors are very elementary. I am transfering out of here and going somewhere where I will be able to do more than sew on snaps and name tags. Oh, yeah, and if you don't go greek expect to be annoyed all the days of your life here. EVERYONE is greek and its rubbed in your face every where you go. The food is aweful, nothing stayes open past 7 on campus, and NOTHING is open past 10 in Tucson. There is nothing to do, and no one here knows how to drive - I feel like I am driving in a parade! And the Universtiy is not in the best of neighborhoods. If your an artsy city kid, then this yucky desert is certainly not the place for you.
