This is a school for kids who couldn't get into a respectable art school. Most of which cannot, or do not, read. The city is beautiful and it draws people in. This is not an education. I'm getting out.

questionI've been wondering about this for quite some time. Although my main passion is art, i also have other interests…language, environmental issues, and theology, to name just a few. I'm sorry to hear that this has been a bad experience for you, but are there any other suggestions you might have for me? My local university is a good one, but it's small and doesn't offer much in the way of the arts, which is sort of expected. I'm also looking to meet down to earth types with similar interests…but i've heard the bunch at SCAD are wankers. Any truth to this? look forward to your email, and thank you for taking the time to read it.

  • responseI'd like to think that most of the people at SCAD are nice, down-to-earth people who all get along pretty well :) It might vary by major, but I love the people in the sequential department. I think this person's review is terribly sparse and probably written out of spite because they happened to have a bad experience; I think that like all things, the experience you have depends on what you put into it. If you put yourself out there and work hard, you'll have a good time! A lot of the people who complain that they didn't learn anything are the people I've found didn't really care about their classes. Even the best teacher can't make a person care or be dedicated, which in turn means they won't learn anything. SCAD is a very respectable school, and I've already gotten lots of interest in my art from publishers and as a freelancer - and I haven't even graduated yet! Anyways, just keep this in mind. You get back what you put in.
