If you come to the Art Institute of Chicago you are going to get a world class education, no doubt about that. All of the teachers are actual working artists making a living in chicago that teach on the side- so you get a real hands on look at life as an artist. You have to get used to going to class for 6 hours straight, but it goes quickly when you're working hard.

I have personally considered transfering to a University college because if you go here, you have to be sure that art is all you'll ever want to do, because that's all you're going to get. Even the Liberal Arts are all art themed, sparing 2 or 3 algebra and philisophy classes you can only take once. Sometimes I wish I could be trained in something else (like actually have a minor, since we dont have majors or minors here).

The only negetive thing I can say about SAIC, because it is a phenominal education, is that if you're a happy, outgoing, friendly person…you're going to stick out like a sore thumb here. The student body likes to think they are all the smartest people in the universe, and they're very introverted and awkward to boot. I came to SAIC being a "prep" with a lifelong passion for art, and I'm about to be a junior and have really yet to find any long-lasting, meaningful friendships. People don't generally make an effort to get to know others here, they keep to themselves. But if you like to lock yourself in your room and paint all day in solitude then you'll fit in just fine.
