While Notre Dame offered me a wonderful education, of which I am grateful, its negative qualities outweigh the positives. The school is quite homogenous in thought, and I found many people to be ignorant and intolerant of both individuals who chose to date interracially and individuals who were gay or lesbian. I also found that such ignorance and intolerance bled into the classroom, compromising my learning experience. The surrounding town is also quite a disappointment, although I knew that going into it because I thought it would be worth it. I don't live with regrets, but my experience at Notre Dame helped me realize what qualities my future graduate school will NOT have. You live and you learn, and I chose to stay at ND rather than transfer, so I did that to myself. Again, no regrets, but I learned my lesson.
