The University of Houston is a horrible school. Point Blank. Period.

ONLY go to this school if you are already living in houston and the surrounding areas and for some reason can't go to a school elsewhere. Even then you may want to think about a community college.

The institution itself is a large nice looking campus that is oddly sorted out. Buildings that should be close together [like the financial aid office and bursar office] are completely spread apart and require lots of walking to navigate to. I "attended" this school for two semesters and ended up getting SCREWED coming out with ZERO credits and a big hefty fee. Fall 2006 I went to U of H somewhat as a last resort and regret every minute of it. During my first semester I had a big family emergency come up that required a lot of my attention and required me to drop out of school. BIG MISTAKE. Apparently at U of H if you have problems outside of school THEY DON'T CARE! I dropped all of my classes BEFORE the final drop date in order to avoid being held responsible for payment of the courses and was still billed for them!! However the school didn't inform me that I would be screwd into paying them until I went back the following spring semester and was already two months into school!! They made me appeal for my spring financial aid which seemed SOMEWHAT logical because I had dropped before. The approved me for the appeal, I accepted my grants and loans, and even had a scholarship from my church coming in but the university NEVER DISPERSED my money!!! Their claim was they were waiting on academic improvement but I was NEVER on any type of probation! I had all A's and because they didn't give me my financial aid in the end I was expected to pay for EVERYTHING myself [fall and spring semester and I didn't even fully attend fall!!] My aid was NEVER sent out and they kept the money my church gave me!!! I was dropped from all courses for failure to pay, even though thats what financial aid is for and was told I would recieve no grades for the semester. WRONG!! They not only WITHDREW me but gave me F's!!!!! This school is horrible and are only out to get over on you. All the staff and faculty I spoke to regarding my matter were rude and unhelpful. I would NEVER recommend anyone attend this school.

Even after leaving they still haunt me. I made the mistake of putting U of H down as a school I was ENROLLED in on another college application and am now denied admmission because they require either a transcript or letter of withdrawl for U of H and they REFUSE to send one. Ever mentioning them on any application was my OWN falut and now I know to never mention them again. It is keeping me out of the school I always wanted to go to most!!

SUMMARY: The University of Houston SUCKS!!!! DON'T GO!!!

responseI AGREE this is the worst school in the world they are out to screw you over and steal your money. its not even a real school its just a big scam.
I go to UH and it is miserable. No campus life no good looking girls. Regret ever coming here!!
responseIf I could shoot myself in the foot in order to take back the year that I wasted here, I would do it in a heartbeat. I have nothing to show for my past year of "education" at this shit-tier institution besides the fact that it lowered my GPA by more than .1. And this is after I had already completed 124 hours and come out of a prestigious institution with a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
responseThe reason why Uh attracts good professors is because of the medical coverage that is offered. So, there are many professors who are either dying of cancer or one of their family is. That's why they are so miserable and unhelpful all the time.
commentIf we need to obliterate any place in Houston, this would be it. No sense of pride here. You got students wearing shirts that support other schools, yet no one cares. Teachers suck and don't give a damn about you. Absolutely no social life. Clubs here are a joke. It's just like high school. Come in and get out. I knew I should have gone somewhere else. Regret ever choosing this place over UT or any other school I got accepted into. Worthless place to spend 4 years of my life.
responseDon't let all these images and pictures of smiling people fool you. This place is an absolute joke. I just heard that we were trying to join the Big 12 network. LOL! When will this place ever learn that this is a commuter school?!?! No one gives a $H!T about this place! People go to class and then go home! No one cares about some stupid football game! The fact that you have to persuade people to come out just shows how truly desperate you are to get people to come. Well guess what, I ain't ever coming! I don't care about this school. You motherfkers can kiss my @$$ when I walk onto that stage. Good fking riddance. Do yourself a favor and tear down the stadium and use the money to invest it on something more important…like education for godsake.
