I enjoyed my 4 years at UH very much. Cons: Though it seemed to be improving (new dormitories in the works) when I left, The Towers are the standard old prison-like dorm rooms. I lived in The Quad, which are suite-style. The Quad is older, but in good shape, and very comfortable. The campus itself is beautiful, with great architecture, and big trees EVERYWHERE. There are lots of options for on-campus dining, and two different recreation areas with pool tables and games and such for between classes. While I felt totally safe on campus, the immediately surrounding area is pretty bad. There's almost nothing near campus that you should walk to by yourself… but as long as you're on campus, or driving to your destination you're fine.

The diversity if UH is incredible- when I was there, it was an almost even split between black, white, asian and hispanic students. Many of the students there are funding their own education, and people are generally friendly and hard-working.
