Major: Social Work (This Major's Salary over time)
Ok so I am going to rate VCU as neutral. It is an ok school. Not great but ok. I have completed 3 years here and next year will be my last (thank god). I hate Richmond with a passion. The city is gross and dirty. When I wake up in the morning and look outside my apartment window I see homeless people digging through my trash. When I walked to class I have to deal with gross old men hitting on me or asking me for money. The second they hand me my diploma I am packing up my stuff and leaving the next day. The last 3 years have been hard. If your not a social butterfly then your time at VCU will suck. It is really hard to meet people here. The campus is completely dead on the weekends. Classes are ok. It is really difficult to get into the classes that you want when if your not a junior or senior. I thought the food was ok. Housing is horrible. After your freshman year you are pretty much on your own about finding housing. The school does not care one bit. More than anything I do not feel safe at all. Anyone can walk into any of the class buildings. Homeless people are everywhere. One student was shot and killed in a park maybe a month ago. You cannot be naive about your surroundings. If your not carefully you will be robbed or even worse. I am not trying to scare you but everything I am writing is true. I was suppose to transfer to a different university after my freshman year but stupidly I decided to stay. I told my friends there is no way I would ever go to grad school at vcu. I would say it is not so much VCU but Richmond. Good luck if you choose to go here.
